I know that many of you have questions about graduations, grades, pictures, picking up personal items at school, etc.. We, as a school district, are working on answers to all of these questions now and plan to have guidance for you soon. Please continue your lessons with your teachers. We miss each of you, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

We LOVE Art!
Good afternoon! I hope this finds you all well! I have some information I’d like to share with you all.
Starting Friday, April 3rd, I’ll be holding office hours via e-mail from
8 - 9 A.M., and 12:30 - 1:30 P.M. every Monday - Friday. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at hmassey@smithcoedu.net
2.) Starting the week of April 6th, I’ll be posting one digital/online based, supplemental art lesson per week for students in the following grade bands: K-2 (Pre-K can follow these as well), 3-5, and 6-8. The format of these lessons is to be determined.
3.) Also starting next week, for our students who have no online or internet access, I’ll be sending supplemental art lesson plan packets to school. These packets can be picked up at your child’s school on Monday or Thursday during meal pick up times. Packets will only include the activities and not materials, but all activities will only require simple materials that many of you will already have at home!

A note from Mrs. Angel-FRS Guidance
Here are a few ways you can help anxious kids.
Practice those deep breaths. ...
Take a break and go outside. ...
Talk about anxiety openly. ...
Get kids moving. ...
Try walking and talking. ...
Think positive by having students keep a gratitude journal. ...
Remind kids to eat healthy and stay well.
Also, not sure if any counseling places are open or seeing students, but if anyone needs to get in touch with me they are welcome to email me for additional information. I am planning office hours Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10 am - 12 pm.
My email is Angela.zaffino@smithcoedu.net

FRS would like to thank Twin Lakes for their recent donation and support of our students.

Smith County Schools are implementing preventive measures in regards to the Coronavirus. We want our staff, students, and parents to know we are taking the recommended CDC and TDOE prevention guidelines. Our staff is sanitizing schools and buses daily and thoroughly cleaning frequently touched surfaces and stocking schools with extra soap, paper towels, and disinfectant wipes. Teachers will be allowing more time for hand-washing and the school system has provided guidance to principals to help support them in making the best possible decisions for their students, school, and community.
